Dacastello Vini became the exclusive distributor for United Kingdom of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc Sandhills.

The meeting  was a matter of love at first taste.

It all began in March 2023 at ProWein, one of the world’s most important international wine fairs.

We had welcomed hundreds of visitors who were interested in discovering the excellence of Italian wine to our stand during the fair. We had met importers and become acquainted with new partners interested in the wines in our catalogue.

The 2023 edition was very intense for us, probably more than we could have imagined, but every day we tried to carve out time to discover the wines of other wineries, both Italian and international.

Curiosity is the driving force behind our work, research is its essence. And one afternoon we visited the Australia and New Zealand hall. We met local producers, made new contacts, and then tasted Sandhills Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand. And it was love at first taste.

The glass is filled with a beautiful bright straw yellow colour. The bouquet immediately reveals notes of tropical fruit and floral aromas. The palate expresses the perfect balance of taste and texture, impeccably rounded and rich at the same time.

After the tasting we started talking to the producers who told us that Sandhills Sauvignon Blanc is made in Marlborough, the capital of Sauvignon Blanc. It is New Zealand’s largest and most extensive wine-growing region, bordered by the Pacific Ocean and the Southern Alps mountain chains, which offer protection from wind and rain.

Right then, in Düsseldorf, on a cool March day, holding a glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, we felt as though we were in those sprawling valleys full of vineyards and rivers.
After that first, almost accidental meeting, contacts with the company intensified. The winery is a family business, where human relationships are the foundation, and the similarities between our two businesses were soon revealed and consolidated.

Until we decided to embark on a new adventure by becoming the exclusive distributor for Italy and the United Kingdom of Sandhills Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.
